Another lovely day!
My nephrologist's medical assistant visited me today at dialysis. My hemoglobin is fine (they check it once a week and it is good). I'm going to try using belt/resistance bands with leg exercises tomorrow as she said it was fine as long as I felt okay. She suggested it was probably a good idea to wait another week before trying modified planking...and only if my arm is up to it. Going to go back to riding my bike tomorrow...my true love.
Did stretching for 45 minutes. Most exercises used to be 3 sets or 30 reps. All have been increased this week at PT.
These are the ones I did today. I switch these out with other stretches.
Standing Hip Extension: each leg, 50 reps
Standing Hip Abduction: each leg, 50 reps
Standing Lunges on Raised Surface: each leg, 50 reps
TheraBand Lateral Walk: 3 sets of 90 seconds
TheraBand Monster Walk: 1 set of 90 seconds (Binky ran in and wanted to chase, had to stop this one)
TheraBand Knee Extension: each side, 50 reps
Bridging: 50 reps
TheraBand Supine Clamshell: each side, 50 reps
TheraBand Supine Clamshell: both legs at same time, 50 reps
Supine Piriformis Stretch Hip: Each hip, 100 count
Hope to get Binky's Santa pictures tomorrow and take her to the doggie park again. Life is good!
Onward, friends.

Losing 0.6 kg a Week
12 December 2019
Another great day in Southeast Texas!
Had a fabulous PT workout today. Came home and walked little Binky-puppy for 15 minutes with my RM. Binky gets so excited when you even pick up her pink harness (with pearls and diamonds). She tries so hard to keep her legs still and not wiggle because she wants to be good while we put it on her...but she gets so excited because she loves to go on adventures.
Made a new dish (sorry, forgot pictures). It was a roasted cabbage and onion dish. It didn't call for it, but I sweated the onions in a cast iron skillet for a bit. Then added oil and cabbage. Roasted for 40 minutes, stirring once. The dressing was made of white wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, olive oil, and lemon juice. Could be eaten warm or room temperature, but we ate it warm. So easy, tasty, and CHEAP. Will be making again.
I know a friend asked for a pic of Binky in her plaid sweater, but we didn't put it on her today. Will post next time we do.
Hope your day was as great as mine!
Onward, friends.

SO: met calorie goal.
15 minutes light stretching.
45 minutes doggie park with Binky.
Hope to be back on my bike by this weekend.

Met calorie goal.
PT 45 minutes.
Had modified PT today.
They tested me to see progress since I started.
*going from sitting to standing with no hands
NOW: 12 times in 30 seconds
BEGINNING: 2 times in 30 seconds and had to use hands
*standing on bad leg with no support
NOW: 38 seconds
BEGINNING: not possible
*there were various stretches/etc. that were all improvements
What's funny is that this was my first day back at exercise since last Wednesday. I still had good improvement on these tests.
We're going to try to see if I can continue PT one day a week when this prescription ends next Tuesday. Loving it!
Onward, friends!

Met calorie goal.
Lots of rest and recovery.
Thankful for the nurses that give me great care at dialysis. Still hurting, but at least we made it today!
I'm also thankful for the prayers and support from all of you!
Even though I've been under my calorie limit, I'm still a little heavy. Probably from lack of exercise lately. I'm not going to worry about it. Going to continue watching calories.
Going back to PT tomorrow. Will have to be modified a bit because I'm not going to work that arm!
Some of you asked for pics of Binky-puppy. We don't have the pictures with Santa yet, but here are a couple of her on Saturday at the new community doggie park. She was the only one on the "small doggie" section, but she was happy running back and forth with the big doggies on the other side of the fence. Pictures aren't great, but you get the idea.
You guys are awesome! Prayers of thanks lifted!
Onward!
