Made cabbage and onion bake/salad today with new ingredients. One tablespoon of sesame oil and one tablespoon of balsamic vinegar instead of dijon mustard and lemon. Portioned it for 2 more meals this week (can be eaten cold or warmed). RM loved it and it is a nice change of pace.

Had a high calorie smoothie today with strawberries, GNC wheybolic chocolate protein powder, Greek vanilla yogurt, milk, flaxseed meal and chia seeds. It was just awesome for dinner.

Feeling about 90% better from yesterday. Yay!

Bad AND good day.

Been having "issues" all week and discussed with one of my doctors Wednesday. She suggested Dulcolax, which isn't for people with kidney issues but she said it would be okay. I was trying to avoid it, but broke down this morning and bought some.

Bad day because I'm sitting here looking at my bike instead of sitting ON it. Unless I am sitting somewhere else...Sorry if too much TMI.

Good day because RM and I went to our favorite farmer's market this morning and picked up so much stuff...for less than 20$. I love this place...tutored two of the owners grandchildren 15 years ago one summer...bright kids whose parents just wanted their kids to be challenged for the summer. There were dozens of families out in the strawberry fields picking berries with their little ones (I always tell my friends this place is available for field trips). The place was packed. There is an area a few hundred feet away from the market with picnic tables and huge oak trees that have been there for centuries (where I used to tutor on pretty days). Two houses back up to it, where some of the families live that own the market. This market and working farm has been going strong since before the Great Depression. As you walk around the store, you can see pictures of the family going back for generations.

Anyway, RM and I took Binky-puppy along to the market. RM walked Binky around the picnic area while I went in the store and shopped. Stopped at Walgreens on the way home.

A little field trip for our puppy!

Going to eat toast tonight instead of my usual smoothie.

7th day of St Thomas Aquinas Novena.

Be blessed, friends!

Met calorie goal.
PT 45 minutes.
Bike 35 minutes.

PT was great today. Learned a couple of new things that look easy but are actually hard for me. One was marching in place and holding. You lift your leg like a march and hold it for a second, then do the same with the next leg. Started out super easy and was tired after doing it 3 times (30 count each leg x 3). Also got a couple of other new exercises.

We talked about how to alternate exercises to get the most bang for my minutes. She suggested 2 standing, 2 laying, and 2 sitting. Then do different ones the next day. All are designed to help my hip and the muscles around it, but by doing it in different positions I can make sure I am using the muscles slightly differently.

I asked her about foam rollers. They tend to be floor exercises. It is difficult for me to get up and down from the floor. She didn't seem really excited about them. I think I will ask the PT next week about them again, as I will be seeing a different PT.

Pressed for time, so didn't get my whole hour with the bike. I do some bike at PT along with whole body leg presses, so I don't feel so bad about not making an hour.

Met calorie goal.

Bike 60 minutes.

Stretching 25 minutes.
-Raised Lunges 50 rep
-Hip Extension with band 50 rep
-Hip Abduction with band 50 rep
-Monster Walk with band 30 seconds x 3
-Lateral Walk with band 30 seconds x 3

Been looking at various eating plans of FS members...sometimes asking questions....sometimes taking notes....doing research....and going to my doctor and dietitian when needed. Been making smoothies with whey protein powder for a few weeks now and I love how I feel (sometimes with berries, sometimes with yogurt, chia and flax). My bloodwork levels have been great. My doctor may change some of my meds during dialysis because my hemoglobin has been high (not an anemia risk!) and she is checking with the anemia monitor to make sure! The last few months my protein levels have been IN GOAL (was low before FS).

Other than calories, I'm really trying to get my protein to 100g a day. I have been doing a great challenge for a few months that gives you the option to keep track of your fiber and fat, which I haven't been doing. I'm within 20 pounds of my first goal and realize that I might have to tweak my WOE as I get closer. I can't do KETO as I get shaky without carbs, but I have cut out most processed carbs except whole wheat bread. Will be looking into what to do as I get closer.

Fourth day of Novena to St. Thomas Aquinas. Praying for healing for many FS members.

Did stretches with bands today. Have PT tomorrow morning and want to be ready!

Onward, friends.
