Just checking in. I can't begin to tell you all how crazy busy I feel like I've been lately...still dealing with a lot of staff changes at work...I don't know which hat I'm wearing most of the time, but I'm only one person and I can only do so much as one person. Things will get done. I think I'd actually do better if I slowed down with each task...we'll see how that strategy works.

Still doing my best to log. Days are so busy I don't realize how fast they go by. I pack a lunch and snacks so that keeps my eating in check.

Lunch hour workouts still happen, too. I think my mind needs those workouts more than my body. I've got enough HIIT routines in my arsenal now that I can go to the gym and 'zone' through the motions I want to do that day...it's amazing how FAST a half-hour goes now.

Kids/Family are doing great. I'm blessed to have them. I don't know how I'd be able to keep it together if I had to deal with a challenging work environment AND a challenging home environment. Thank you Lord!

Awesome weekend!

As many of my buddies know, I usually only get my lunch hour to workout. However, this weekend we took the family to my parents house and I was able to manage to get to the gym for a good HOUR+! I was able to combine 3 of my favorite workouts all in one outing! It felt GREAT! Plus, I was able to get my gym time in during the morning so I didn't feel too guilty about the birthday cupcake (note: cupCAKE not cupcakeS) that followed that afternoon.

Today is our office clean up day. We have one day a year that we dedicate for all departments to clean their files up, offices, storage, etc. As per the usual, management purchased pizza for us. I've refrained so far, but I have budget in my intake today for a piece later when the snack-monster comes around. I still went to the gym on my lunch hour...again, it feels good to have the exercise out of the way and that deficit already built in.

Office mood is feeling more positive despite my concerns last week. Pieces are starting to fall into place and everyone seems ready/willing to pitch in. Or maybe it's just my perception of a more positive atmosphere?!?!?

Best wishes and support to you all...thanks for checking in on me.

Sour Grapes.

So the gal in my office that was hoping for the promotion that I received hasn't been talking to me since the announcement last month. On Monday, she turned in her resignation.

I went over to talk to her and to congratulate her on her next endeavor and she hardly looked up from her smartphone to respond.

Ugh. I don't want her to leave with us on any bad terms, but at this point I don't think there is much I can do. I prefer harmony in life...but sometimes there's no way to get it. But I still wish there was some way I could bring peace to the situation.

However, I'm overwhelmed with training for my new position, training in the new person for my old position, and now trying to prepare for her departure and helping to train THAT new person. The lady that I'm replacing will be going out on leave in a week and that puts me "in charge" until her ultimate retirement. Not to mention that husband is out of town this week and I'm "single mom" for the kiddos.

If it weren't for those lunch hour workouts and an evening glass of wine, I don't think I'd keep my sanity. I have faith that I'm right where I need to be and that I have everything I need to get through this.

Home, food, family, exercise...all those are good right now. My son has enjoyed cooking for my daughter and me this week with dad being gone. So far he's made a well seasoned version of buttered noodles, and a spinach/raspberry/vinegar/olive oil salad [on crackers]??? but I applaud his efforts...he's only 7 afterall.

I'm starting to be able to "walk" my handstands!

Just something I've started doing over the past 6 months or so is handstand practice. I tend to play around with these when I'm filling in a few minutes at the end of a workout. Started out just trying to hold a handstand (against a wall) for 10 seconds has now progressed to walking that handstand side-to-side along the wall. It's been a fun way to end a workout...I feel like a kid again!!!

Still establishing 'benchmarks' this year. One of the blogs I follow posted a 2 Minute Benchmark challenge where you do each of the following for 2 minutes in this order: Double Unders (I admit, I'm still at Singles), Pull-Ups, Air Squats, Push-Ups, Burpees, and Sit-Ups. I took a 1 minute break between each movement and established the following counts today.

Single Unders: 240
Pull-Ups: 18
Air Squats: 53
Push-Ups: 31
Burpees: 19
Sit-Ups: 36

I think I have some pacing to work on with those burpees still, but I kept it moving.

My daughter turns 2 today so there will be cake after dinner tonight. She loves going to the local gymnastics studio so I think we'll be taking her there tomorrow to run around (...OK...I'll admit I like going there, too!!!). Santa brought her a little mini-trampoline and boy does that girl love to jump!

I love reading all of your motivating posts as we all get back into a routine (or new routine) after the holidays.
