I'm in my late 30's and I've been overweight for my entire life. I've only ever tried to diet a few times in my life and my focus right now is trying to make fundamental changes to how I approach food and health. I am fortunate enough to have a gorgeous wife who supports me and is engaged in the same process though we are taking different approaches to our diet. My father passed away in March of this year and his obesity played a role in his failing health towards the end of his life. This is probably the biggest motivator I have because as the parent and step-parent to 3 incredible kids I want to be a part of their lives for as long as possible and to help set them on a path of overall health. My ultimate goal is to get down to 200 lbs and by the anniversary of my father's passing I would like to have lost 100 lbs. If I can average 2 lbs lost a week I'll be right where I want to be. I am not currently following a specific diet or exercise plan as I try to determine what works for me.
