I am a 62 year old female, married, with 3 cats, 4 adult children, 10 grandchildren and with 82 pounds to lose. I am choosing Low carb to do it because I think that is what is right for me.
I like Low carb because i want a way of eating that is healthy, satisfying and doable. Just started Jan 5, 2012 and I will be happy with slow and steady. I am cutting out grains, sugar, starchy vegetables, and high carb foods.
I was 125 pounds until I was 30, even after 4 kids. When I turned 30, my metabolism changed and I've been up and down ever since. When I hit 242 pounds, I said that's enough. I've tried weightwatchers and lost 30 pounds and my gallbladder. The low fat diet was not satisfying to me.
My daughter and her husband have been low carbing it for 8 years and are very lean and trim. My daughter encourages me, and my husband supports me although he doesn't follow low carb. I must say since cutting out the wheat and sugar, my joints hurt much much less. It is very nice to be virtually pain free! I think one or both caused inflammation in my joints.
