iPapi50's Journal, 10 Mar 16

It's March 10, 2016. I was sick in the fall and fell off my diet and workouts. Mostly, I've lost lean body mass. The problem I'm having with this site is that I DON'T WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT, and in fact am insulted by this term. Anybody interested enough in their fitness to come here deserves a more intelligent site: body fat, lean body mass, gain, lose. I'm trying to work the site, but don't like it much. I eat six meals a day, for example, and need to be able to control the amounts. I'm sure I'll learn to work it, but for now it's frustrating.

I'm revising my daily caloric intake to 3,500. Weight goal is the same: 190.
74.5 kg Lost so far: 2.6 kg.    Still to go: 6.4 kg.    Diet followed: Not Applicable.

I am sorry but you are wrong about the site - there are many of us who discuss those topics you identified. You can even look at my recent journal entries, or check our member "mahjohn" or "northernmusician" - or you could join bodybuilding.com

What? What are you talking about? Not join what community?

The community means having "buddies", joining groups and interacting with other members to share knowledge and support. There are other people here with your same goals. Viewing their journal entries, making comments, and being supportive is what is meant by the community.

Thanks, HCB. I think I just got a buddy with some guy who is also buddies with you. I see also that you use the language I do, fat loss, instead of lose weight -- but the site keeps telling me I'm losing weight and congratulating me. I'm losing weight due to an illness, so the congrats are a super irony, So you meant leave this site and go to bodybuilding? Premature advice, I suspect. I've only been here an hour or so, and the workings here are not obvious to me. The worst is I can't figure out how to edit my profile and get a new picture in there. I feel like the site just runs me in circles, but suspect also that I'll figure it out eventually. -- Michael

I told my trainer my goal is to lose body fat but gain muscle weight... a lot of people are confused thinking they need the scale to say a smaller number. My goal is to lower my body fat percentage but gain as much muscle weight as possible so I can eat more.... I'm all about upping my calories but making the right choices. I enjoy food and it's part of living a good life and I don't intend to try and crucify this, but rather re educate myself and learn to make better choices....

It seems, I am losing body fat faster than weight loss and the weight loss percentages on my Withings Scale has gotta be off.

Ipapi50, my goals are fat loss while maintaining or increasing strength, fitness and endurance...increasing my power to weight ratio is most important for me, this site and all the folks on it have really helped. We're not all on the same path for sure, but there should be resources here (knowledge, tools, Etc.) to help you on your journey, take care!!

Working the amounts is fairly easy on my iPad, Samsung phone and computer...I also have a Samsung tablet which is very difficult to change serving or quantity sizes, if you need more info, just let me know, thnx!

You really have found the right place. The members on here have been a tremendous support to me. I care deeply for each and every one of them!

Thanks, everybody, for these comments and for the support. I'm sure I'll get better handling the site, and I'm heartened to find so many others here sharing not only my goals but my vocabulary. The site keeps asking me how much weight I want to lose. Even though my goal is 25 pounds higher than my weight today, the site keeps congratulating me for my "weight loss." Haha! I'm sure I'll get past all that. I'm starting my 3500 cal diet today, and am a little shocked about how much I just ate! There used to be an Alka-Seltzer commercial when I was a kid where the guy kept saying "I can't believe I ate the whole thing. . . " That's how I'm feeling right now. Thanks again, all. -- Michael

I still don't know where all these comments go. Is there some place where you're all posting comments? Is there a way for me to reply to the comments here?

There's a bit of a learning curve for new members, but you'll figure it out. Glad to have you here, when you do get the navigation and interface figured out you'll find a supportive community and people with a diverse range of goals, struggles, failures, and success. Sorry to hear of your illness, I wish you well and good luck with your goals!
