I've been making an effort to be more active. My default behaviour is to be reading for a large part of my day, which does nothing to burn up calories. I've had to learn to ignore the neuropathic pain in my feet and not to worry about my dud knee collapsing when I'm walking.
The weather hasn't been helpful lately, this being true for just about anyone living on the eastern side of Australia (I live in Canberra.)
Happily, I do get a workout on my drum kit every day irrespective of the weather. The motion and vibration drives my Fitbit crazy, and I can't be burning the sort of calories my Fitbit indicates. There is no way a 72-year-old man can have a heart rate getting up close to 200, and my perceived level of exertion can be high but nothing extreme.
