Okiegurl81's Journal, 18 Mar 14

I have never wanted a Dr. Pepper so bad in my life. I am a day away from being one month soda free, and I can barely stand it. I've been doing well, but today has been so stressful. I have had a headache for the past three days, and no matter what I do, I can't seem to get rid of it. My car is screwed and it will probably take around $2000 to fix. Money that I do not have, and have no way of getting. My leg is hurting, my hands and feet keep going numb, and to top it all off, I am hungry. There is nothing healthy in this house. I have managed to eat all my salad, veggies, chicken, ect. I am sick to death of oatmeal and yogurt. I am so stressed and stretched thin right now, I am on the verge of bawling, and I really really REALLY want a soda.

Put the kids (?) to bed. Tell the spouse (?) you need until midnight to recharge your batteries. Do you have lo-fat milk, bread and egg? Make a quick french toast. No milk or egg? Take bread, a smear of butter or canola oil, a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar. Broil (and while it's baking...have a quick cry. Sometimes the pent emotions can make your head pound!) Force yourself to not dwell on it anymore tonite and allow yourself to bathe, read, dance...anything. Lots of curveballs being thrown at you right now, but you can survive it!

Have some eggs! They are always a good snack. Don't drink the soda. You're doing awesome. Remember what you want in the long run is a way better payoff than the one you'll get from having that soda! Good Luck!! Hang in there!! :)

Don't do it! You're so close!! And great job, btw. I could easily give up soda (actually usually only drink a small amount, if any, on weekends). But I hear ya cause my addiction (well, other than food ya know) is COFFEE!!! Luckily I don't drink it with cream or sugar, but I can't imagine going for a whole month without it. That shows you're motivated and very determined. I'm truly impressed. Don't let those stresses get to you. You'll feel so much better tomorrow when you can say you did it - even with the stress. And, sorry about the car trouble. Hope everything works out for you!

Hi :-) Im sorry youre so stressed, life always has a way of kicking us when we're down. One ofb the biggest thongs I had to learn when I started my journey was that food doesnt make anything better. I was a big emotional eater, so you can imagine it took a lot of time to kick the habit. Journaling about it is a great start and I hope it helped you! When you are truly hungry you should eat. We are not always going to have our ideal foods available and thats okay as long as we make smart choices. For me personally nothing is off limits, but protein and nutrient rich foods are preferable. Peanut butter on a slice of bread is my great go to snack when I feel like im dying. Also, diet soda isnt the worst thing in the world if it gets you through. I gave up sugary beverages march 2013, its a great thing to give up and I dont regret it. I have had many a diet sodas, and am working on cutting back on them now. I hope that at least some of my advice will be helpful to you. I know life can be extremely stressful, dont let your diet be another rock in the weight of the load. in my previous weight loss fails my diet consumed me and I was always hungry and miserable, I dont want anybody to think thats how it has to be to successfully lose weight. I do hope things get better for you, best of luck!

Thank you so much for the support and advice. *HUGS* I did not give in and have a soda, and once I got some sleep, I felt much better.

You can really really really want anything but that doesn't mean you get it! You are in control. Struggling means progressing!
