I started on the new Atkins diet back in February of this year. I could see the weight coming off weekly on my bathroom scale. I started out at 189 and got down to 166 but have been stuck at 166 since before April 9th. It's now May 24th and I'm still at 166 and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm following the daily meal plan in the back of the Atkins book but still nothing has been happening. I am on Synthroid for an inactive thyroid and my doctor said if I can get down to 130 he'll take me off of my blood pressure medication. However, if I'm stuck at 166, how will I ever get down to 130? I know that Atkins believes that you can eat FAT, but my doctor has warned me about eating too much FAT because I also take cholesterol medication. I was hoping that if I lost the weight I might be able to be taken off that too, but I'm a little leary about eating the FAT. I don't want to add to my cholesterol problem. I've read that people who have been on the Atkins diet have improved their LDL and triglycerides so I'm hoping that will be the case for me too. I'm willing to try anything at this point. I've since been tracking the food that I eat on the FitDay Free Calorie Counter which is a good thing for me because it counts up all the net carbs I'm eating daily. Hopefully I'll start losing again soon before I get too discouraged and give up on the diet. I still need to lose another 30-35 pounds.
