I'm sticking carefully to the 800 calories my doctor wants me to have so tell me how did I manage to GAIN? I do jazzercise 3 hours a week minimum, plus walk at least 1 mile a day usually more.

Well, if you read a little in the forums in here you will soon realize, that pretty much everyone agrees that anything under 1200 calories per day is too little - the body needs the calories to run optimally, and when you do under like you are doing right now, your body basically think you are starving and will shut down all systems.
My advice would be to crank it up to at least 1200 (I assume that Fatsecret.com did NOT suggest 800 cals for you) and go from there. Also, that makes your project a lot more accomplishable.
Shame on your doctor! :)

My doctor set the 800 calories because I'm am only 5' tall and very small (at least under the last of the fat :-)). I'll try upping my calories for a few days and see what happens. Thanks for your input.

Unless you have severely horrible health conditions, I can't imagine why he would say 800. 164 is nowhere near dangerous a weight enough to require so few calories. You should definitely try to take in more, especially with all of that exercise. I could almost cal that in itself dangerous. O.o I'd be afraid you would fall out from no energy.

Thanks CasaundraKay. I no longer have any weight related health issues for which I'm extremely grateful.

Hi irisheyes:) I understand. I'm over 50 and 5 foot as well. From your weigh in it looks like you "gained" only a half a pound which could easily chalked up to just normal bodily fluid fluctuations. Sometimes when we exercise our muscles retain water so I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. May I suggest maybe lowering some of the non nutritional items such as coffee mate or cool whip and supplimenting with more nutritional foods? With a limit on so few calories your body should respond better if it's nutritional needs are better met. Maybe opt for a nice salad of dark greens for one of your snacks? Anyway, these are just a few suggestions. I'm very glad to meet you. I sent you a buddy request:) Best wishes!!

Thanks RubyRedSox. You make a very good point. I know I should eat more nutritious food. I'll definitely start doing that. I'm grateful for your support.
