After my 6.5 day fast, it took a couple of days for me to get my mojo back.
I was planning to do a 72 hour fast starting today, but I'm going to wait until I'm feeling totally normal. Yesterday I put in a few hours doing some heavy pruning out in the heat, and today hauled away the many loads of biomass. Yesterday, I was a little light-headed, but today I was a beast, so that's good. During my refeed days, I had more carbs than usual. I have blueberries and raspberries ripe in my yard, so I had a few meals of berries and yogurt with pecans, yum! Now I'm back to keto and headed on Saturday to 30 day carnivore challenge (Beef, butter, Bacon and Eggs). Fasting regenerates mitochondria and human growth hormone, this in the long run should be energizing. I just needed a couple of days to reboot!

To the FS community.
Announcing a Challenge: 30 day Carnivore Challenge BBB&E
Curious about the carnivore diet? We're going to do a 30 day Beef, Butter,
Bacon and Eggs challenge. That's it, plus water, coffee and tea. Mix it up with intermittent fasting. Go to YouTube to Dr. Ken Berry's channel. He has several introductory videos. Check it out and you can sign up here on the 'My Challenges".

I enjoyed this video with Dr.Tynol. About metabolic disfunction vs resilience. Two woman doctors talking about preserving health into aging through cardio-metabolic health. Low muscle mass as a signal of faster decline from all causes, including heart disease, poor immunity and poor
vaccine response. Our systems are not siloed; we need to address metabolism-the substrate of most diseases. Fat people are both overweight and under-muscled. Lift weights to turn on metabolism. Eat more meat; lift more weights, and walk. Lots of detailed insights.

Okay, a modest rebound after the fast. The 6.5 day fast dropped me 8.6 lbs. and 4.03% of my total weight. Now the trick is to limit the rebound and override the set-point effect. I'm sliding straight into 0 carb, carnivore.

Gaining 1.3 kg a Week

6.5 days fasted: 156 hours. Down 8.6 lbs. since the start. There will be a rebound when I eat. Aside from the weight loss, I've had a remarkable improvement in my eye floaters; my vision is clearer. This I presume is due to the autophagy: my body cleaning up the junk cells. My long term commitment to periodic fasting is driven by the brain science that is showing prevention of Alzheimers and dementia. I suffered a life-altering TBI 5 years ago, and a major depression 25 years ago. My mental health and my brain function do better with ketones circulating. So I stay in some degree of ketosis all the time; the depression is kept at bay, my Post Concussion Syndrome symptoms are minimized and I lose weight (75 lbs. so far). The fasts bring ketosis up to a more healing/therapeutic level. It's a potent tool. If you are interested in learning more about ketosis as it relates to mental health and brain function here is a fascinating (and long format)video of Andrew Huberman and Dr. Chris Palmer discussing it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjEFo3a1AnI
