I was REALLY hungry at dinnertime, despite drinking two tall glasses of water to assuage my hunger. If I'd been content to only eat 1/2 cp. of brwn. rice instead of a full cup, I'd have had both my calories AND carbs within Dr. Bhatt's parameters. At least my calories were low enough. C'est la vive.

OK, after urination, emptying pockets, & removing shoes, I, uh, THINK that I've lost TWO POUNDS. But my starting weight of 240 was a guess, so no need for cheering. I know that what I absolutely MUST lower is not my weight, but my blood glucose.
Woohoo! I feel full and whadayaknow?! I'm below my max on carbs for the 1st time ! ! and I'm hundreds of calories below my max, too!

Dang it, I've yet to eat three meals in a day while on this diet and not exceed my doc's recommended max of 160 carbs a day.

Not hungry from 7-9 a.m.; just checking e-mail, Facebook, doing laundry, drinking decaf coffee. Plan to take my 1st glucose reading w/ stepdaughter's glucometer this morning. Gotta understand it a little beforehand, though.
Downloaded glucometer's owner's manual online & read enough, experimented with it enough to do a reading on myself. B4 eating a little oatmeal with some strawberries topped w/ 2% milk, it read 124 based on 70-somethings, "the diabetes level" my doc mentioned. I'll retest around noon or 1 pm (within 2 hours of eating).

Last night, I noticed that I surpassed my 220 carb daily limit. Then, this morning, after buying no-fat cottage cheese & egg substitute, I ate 1/4 cup of both, not one or the other as is suggested. Soooo, I'll record my breakfast & see what shakes out.
Well, my intake of carbs for my too-big breakfast is less than one gram over the calculated 52.5 grams of carbs per my WebMD menu guide.
If only I'd eaten only the egg OR the cottage cheese and had eaten a piece of toast instead of the "large" shredded wheat biscuit I might have been below my target, but I'm not sure now. One thing: I consumed over 400 calories for breakfast instead of the 360 that WebMD suggests.
Come to find out, cottage cheese has roughly half the calories of egg substitute, but twice the carbs of egg substitute. I need to remember this.
Went to Sue & Tami's apt. I expected food to be offered & it was. Tami baked a broc & rice casserole, so to be polite I ate a serving spoon full. Then the obligatory cake. I'd told Sue of my new status as a diabetic minutes before, so she removed virtually all of the icing from my 2" square piece of cake. When I returned home & entered my eating & exercise, I noticed that nutritionally I'm at my carb & calorie totals for the day. But Jan has fixed chicken breasts and something else as I requested before going to Tami's party, so I'll eat more in a few minutes.
