Day 5 of a 'no sugar', 'no eating after 7 pm' regimen, in addition to keeping track of calories on the FS app. So far so good. I brush my teeth right after dinner, at about 7 pm, which helps to ward off any late night grazing slip-ups. Down to 172 lbs. from 178 - in a little more than a month since getting onto FS, so something is working... Mostly I think the combination of being aware how much I'm eating (due to the calorie counting) and sustained exercise, mix of running 4 to 5 times a week and also strength workouts. It's been great seeing so many interesting food pics and personal account of progress and sometimes issues, which we all have. I will keep checking in to learn and be inspired!!

It's been one month now since I got back onto the Starch Diet (Dr. McDougall) Loand have been like 95% compliant; I think I had a couple of pieces of chocolate and ice cream once, in the last month. Lost 5 pounds which isn't much but at least not gaining.
More importantly, I feel good, sleep well and my running is improving. Did a tempo run this morning with 3 miles at just below 9 minute per mile average. Which ain't bad for an old guy... Plus my blood pressure is good (110 over 74 this morning) and resting heart rate is 52. I haven't used alcohol at all in nearly 2 years so that helps with the sleeping and overall sense of well-being. No anxiety like I used to have at night, when still drinking (moderately). Mostly wine. Also no caffeine other than a cup of hot tea in the morning.
My main problems are sugar (candy) and eating at night, after dinner. Even though I am not hungry after dinner, I feel the need to snack on something, like peanuts or a slice of sourdough bread with jam, or some jelly belly candies. So today I am going to quit sugar (again!) and stop eating anything solid after 7 pm. I hope that it will accelerate the weight loss. We will see!!

Looks like weight is starting to come off slowly. Just need to work up a strategy to avoid after-dinner snacking in the evening.
