Well I have the dramatic start to weight loss that I was hoping, though I've been starving all day every day. 2kg in 3 days -happy with that. Dr Mosley says the hunger will settle so I hope it does soon. Even though we've fasted before and are accustomed to the feeling of being hungry, it's still not pleasant all the time. But I'm sticking with the 800 calories a day for now. I'm finding I'm motivated and not finding it hard to stick to the diet, though both my husband and I have been having a few extra low-carb snacks when we feel starving (fresh coconut, almonds etc) so we're probably eating closer to the 1000 calorie mark, if you include the milk in our tea and coffee. Seems to be working well, anyway, and we haven't organised ourselves into any routine exercise yet (he resists exercise and I've had very bad plantar fasciitis and back problems).

I put on 5kg in a week while sick back in November, so I've just been taking it easy, enjoying my time (a whole month!) back in Australia and trying to get my health back on track. I was pleased to have gained less than 2kg in the month there, especially as I didn't eat at all well. Feeling much healthier now and I'm actually down to one medication at the moment - quite a change from the bundle I took over to Australia!
So now I'm ready to start the diet I committed to, which is the low carb diabetes diet in Dr Michael Model's book "The 8 week Blood Sugar Diet". I'm not diabetic but my husband is, and we both need some drastic weight loss, so I'm hoping this 800 calorie diet will bring some quick results!
