05 March 2014
Forgot to mention that on Sunday, March 2, I went with the family to Ryan's for lunch. I was so proud of the fact that I stayed within the guidelines of Atkins and ate only a chicken leg (no skin) and some broccoli and green beans.
Then I looked around at everyone else's plate and saw that their plates were piled high with lots of food,
mostly carbs
, and then I looked at their bodies and I could see why they were heavy. They even went back for seconds. Not Me! I was really proud of myself. I did however go for 5 small chunks of cantelope. When I left the restaurant I had that exhilerating feeling of pride and accomplishment. I just hope now that I begin to see a regular weight loss.

Can't help it! I'm craving fruit so this morning so I ate 1/2 cup of applesauce. Of course, my carbs for this morning's meal are already up to 15....and that's just Breakfast! That doesn't allow much more for the rest of the day, especially if I want to stay at 20 carbs. It'll probably be more like 25 carbs before the day is out. I'll just eat a lot of Fish or Chicken, but I'll have to skip on veggies.

HALLELUIA!!!! This morning when I stepped on the scale I was shocked to see that I FINALLY went down to 181.5. However, I'm not holding my breath because tomorrow it may be 183 or 184 again. That's the way my weight has been fluctuating. My goal for now is to get under 180. Then I'll aim for my new goal which will 170. But, for now, I'm happy with the 181.5 and hope that it will stay there or go down some more.....not up! Not bad since when I started this diet I weighed 192 on my scale but on the doctor's scale I weighed even more than that. I was headed toward 200 pounds and I told myself; "NO WAY....THIS HAS GOT TO STOP"! That's when I got really motivated to lose the weight but got discouraged when for one whole month my weight wasn't budging. Now I'm more motivated than ever before!

Losing 0.8 kg a Week
25 February 2014
Don't know what's happening, but after being on the Atkins diet for over a month now, I have absolutely NO energy and I find myself sleeping a lot. What's going on? I'm normally a very active person but now I can't seem to stay awake during the day. I came home from my art class which was from 9:30 to 12:30, I ate lunch, and then sat down and fell asleep. That's just not like me at all. I hope it isn't because of the diet. I checked my blood sugar to make sure it wasn't super low, but it checked out normal so that isn't the problem. I want my normal active self back.

Went shopping and bought some of the strangest foods that I've never eaten or drank before. I bought Silk unsweetened Almond milk that tastes horrible unless you sweeten it with Splenda. I tried to add different flavoring to it but that makes it taste worse.
I missed my spaghetti so I bought a huge spaghetti squash that cost over $4.00. I'll guess I'll be eating spaghetti squash till the cows come home because I live alone and nobody else would even eat that stuff. However, I found that it tastes pretty good with butter, salt and papper. In fact, it almost has a sweet taste to it. I also tried it with just a tad of Prego spaghetti sauce, which probably isn't on the Atkins food list, but I wanted to see if the spaghetti squash was a good substitute for "real" spaghetti. I guess after I get used to it I could live with it. At least I can pretend that it's the real thing.
I also bought 3 bags of Pork Rinds which I always thought was a "no-no" but after looking at the calories and carbs (30 calories & 0 carbs for 1/2 ounce), I decided it would be a good thing for me to snack on when I get really hungry. I also stocked up on a lot of Atkins bars for snacks and shakes.
Since I love to cook, my next trick is to learn to cook Atkins. I looked up the recipes for things like Alfredo sauce in the NANY book and I'm going to attempt to make things like that. Once again, I'll probably overeat because I'm the only one here to cook for and I don't know how much the recipes make or how long you can keep them before they go bad.
I did weigh myself this morning and it looks like I weigh 181.5 but my weight fluctuates on a daily basis and I don't understand it. The other day I weighed 184 which was up from 182 and I was really 100% spot on with the diet. When I see that I get really discouraged so I'm not going to weigh until a couple of weeks have passed, then I'll weigh.
