Oh sigh! I've been relaxed about my eating and my weight has crept up over the past few months. This morning I hit 220. That's the wrong direction! My all time high was 280, so I really don't want to drift higher. My current pants have gotten tighter, so it's time to refocus and turn this around. Balanced eating; intuitive eating and normal foods have not worked for me. In order to lose, I really do best with very low carb, so I'm cutting out the fruits and grains. I'll miss them, but it's time to get moving south again! And time to record my eating, too. Self-discipline, accountability and daily walks. I know what to do, now I just need to get back to it.

I've been AWOL from FS. My focus has been drawn away, because I've dived down a rabbit hole on another diet website, Data Driven Fasting. I was prescribed a CGM (continuous glucose monitor) and I'm learning on DDF how to train my awareness of my true hunger as reflected in my glucose readings. I've managed to drive my fasting glucose down by 20 points from the 110's into the 80's. And I only eat when my BG - blood glucose is low. I'm learning what that feels like and it definitely teaches me not to snack and eat unless I'm physiologically hungry. This is all good, but I guess I'm eating too much when I do eat, because I haven't lost much weight. I'm being patient with the approach and learning to dial it in to what will work best for me. I'll let y'all know from time to time!

Working my WOE with modest success (after awhile off the rails). The train is back on track with the help of a CGM - Continuous Glucose Monitor. It's fascinating to see how foods, activities and sleep affect blood sugar. Without control on insulin response, there's no weight loss. I recommend getting this device, if your doctor will prescribe it for you (diabetes or pre-diabetes/metabolic syndrome). The benefit is biofeedback about how your own body responds. It's a learning tool. Does anyone else have experience with a CGM? or Metformin?

This is a nice drop, but it's covering zigzag ground. I've been by this spot a few times. I've been a little lost, going around in circles. Recently I went to a weight loss (functional medicine) doctor who put me on Metformin. I started it yesterday. It's meant to control insulin, and help with weight loss. It seems worth a try.
Out of the mouths of babes: "You and Daddy are kind of the same." Me: "In what way?" "You're both kind of lumpy" I got a good laugh! Unfortunately she is surrounded by lumpy grown ups. She's three.
