I kinda fell off the face of the planet there. I don't even really have a legit excuse. It just happened. But I'm back.
I thought today was going to be a day filled with calories, but it really isn't. I guess if you figure I:
1) Didn't really have breakfast
2) Walked around for 4 hours in the hottest day of the year
3) Feeling like death (flu, possibly?) so I don't have a huge appetite
Well...I guess I did all right. :)

I'm still far, far away from my high school best of 23:32 min 5K, but I'm definitely improving. Today I was able to take much longer strides. I didn't run as fast as I did yesterday, but I suspect it's because this is the first time I've ran two days in a row in....heck, I don't remember the last time I ran two days in a row. My form is coming back, though. It's a good sign. I'll take it.
I wanted to share that I just made the most...amazing "naked" Mexican food. It's not a type or anything; I just threw a ton of things together and it was spicy and got rid of my Mexican food craving. It haaaad:
- Ground turkey
- Black beans
- Mushrooms
- White onion
- Tomato
- Avocado
- Colby Jack Cheese
- My own mixture of taco seasoning. (Once you make your own and realize that you use a quarter of what you'd use if you used packet seasoning, you wonder what other junk they're putting in there...The thought of it grosses me out a little bit.)
Heated up the ground turkey (I cooked it yesterday), beans, mushrooms and onions in water with the taco seasoning, then added tomato, avocado, and colby jack cheese right at the end just to heat up the avocado and to melt the cheese so it coated everything. It looks kinda disgusting but it takes just like a burrito!
AND IT WAS ALL 485 CALORIES! It was over a cup of food and I'm going to be full for a very long time! If you omit cheese and avocado, you're down to
290 CALORIES!
I just can't do Mexican without cheese and I love me the occasional avocado—I buy one every third trip to the grocery store—so it was worth it to me!
(I guess you could also add lettuce on top after you put it on your plate. I prefer alfalfa sprouts because I love the light crunch and it has more to it than iceberg)
Big, filling dinner with a TON of flavor and less than 500 calories! I dig it!

I hit that gym and I hit it
hard
. Boy, did that feel awesome. Stretches, 30 minutes of weights, abs, 15 minutes of running, 20 minutes of the "fat killer" mode on the bike...And I'm getting my endurance back. That means I'll be able to do a lot more. I have a bad tendency to work myself as hard as I can, so when I don't have endurance I don't last long at all.
There's was also a nice little milestone. Today was the first time since my ice skating injury in January that I got below a ten minute mile. Granted, I haven't been running more than once a week since late March (when I could finally run again), but it still feels nice. It was motivating. I don't expect myself to be above that again (until I get my next major injury or sickness, anyway). I've broken it, time to push myself HARD.
I plan on hitting the gym at least once more this week (remember: yoga on Thursdays), but I'm hoping for twice or three times. I'm thinking Wednesday and Friday. Maybe Sunday. Depends on the weekend's festivities. Depends on how sore I am tomorrow, too.
