I am a 48. I have been "weight challenged" since the 5th grade! When I was 24 I got my weight down to 150 after the birth of my 2nd child, but ever since then it had climbed to 240. My husband was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes about a month ago. His doctor put him on medication and told him to follow the atkins or south beach diet to get his sugar under control. Since I do most of the food shopping and prep,and also needed to improve my overall health, I made the decsion to join him on the diet. My starting weight was 240. As of this morning I was down to 216!!! I can't believe the difference. Plus my husbands sugar count dropped from 424 (ouch) to 114 as of blood work yesterday!! We have decided to make this our way of life. I thought it would be fun to be in contact with others on this journey. Good luck to all that are trying so hard to beat weight and health problems.
