I'm 45 years old and happily married to the love of my life. Took me a long time to find him, but I finally did! We've been married almost four years now. We live in Vermont and enjoy lots different kinds of outdoor activities, although in the past 10 years or so I have had scarcely any time to get out and do anything like road bike, mountain bike, ski, kayak, hike, golf, or camp on a regular basis... Just way too busy with work, getting an MBA, starting my own company, teaching, and the like.

Doing something once or twice a month, doesn't add up to a fitness program. I used to be a serious athlete and ALWAYS found time to exercise regularly in my 20's and early 30's. As a result I never worried about weight. Well, combine a suddenly sedentary lifestyle coupled with eating like I still ran 30 miles a week, and hello - 30 extra pounds over 10 years.

My doctor said nutrition is 90% of the battle. Having lost it once (only to put it back on by slipping back into bad habits) I know that by making healthy eating choices - I can attain a healthy weight again. Time to turn this ship around, get it off, and keep it off for good by making healthy eating a way of life.

My goal is not only to look fabulous, but more importantly to stave off all of the awful ailments that my parents and grand parents have had to contend with in their golden years like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.

Jan 2014 Update...I've historically struggled with going up and down on the scale... joined a gym for 3 months in the hopes of making activity the primary driver in my attempt at losing the weight this time. Wish me luck.
