I am 40 years old and will be 41 this May. I have been on a diet my entire life. I think I was bigger than my 3rd grade teacher. I have been on all kinds of diets and a couple of times I actually was down to a reasonable weight. I have found the diet that works the best for me is Weight Watchers. It has a great on-line program that allows you to keep a food diary very easily.
At the beginning of February this year, I decided that I was going to give myself 3 months to adopt a more healthier lifestyle (and lose 30 lbs). If I couldn't seem to make it work than I was going to opt for the Lap Band surgery. My friend had that done and she is doing excellent. But because I'm scared of the surgery, I have adopted a new healthier eating plan. Since 2/1/09, I have lost 21 lbs. I know that it is because I have a lot to go but I have until 5/1/09 to meet my original 30lb goal and I only have 9lbs to go. I feel really good about my eating and I have cut out alcohol. My problem is now trying to incorporate daily exercise into my routine. I really want to get it done first thing in the morning and I do not want to get out of my warm snuggly bed.
I have to tell myself that it all takes time and everytime I make good health choices, I'm a little bit closer. I really want to do this for myself, my husband, and my two boys (11 & 13).
