I am so frustrated. I stopped calorie counting a couple of months ago and here I am putting on the pounds again. I don't know - it this going to be a lifelong thing, constantly logging and counting calories? What makes things worse is that I tried to get back on the diet train and found I am lacking the discipline. I think I will have to force myself to go back to Weight Watchers or a weight loss clinic, both worked very well in the past.

It's basically finding the eating style that you can follow for the rest of your life. It may be that you are strict during the week and more lax on the weekend. Once you revert back to your old way of eating, the pounds will pack back on. I know that is what happens to me. Now I am more mindful of keeping a plan that I will be able to stick to for the rest of my life.

I'm usually on a regular diet for about 2 weeks, get tired of counting cals, get cravings and fall flat. This time I decided to go keto and it's much easier. I love butter, cream, cheese, eggs, bacon, avocados, steak . . . all keto foods. Cutting starchy veggies, grains, beans, and sugar out has been surprisingly easy because I am satisfied with legal foods. The weight us coming off very slowly but that's probably my age and lack of exercise. I may have to keep food records for a long time. Every time I quit being very mindful I gain weight. We'll see. For now I can do this. Good luck.

this is a lifestyle you are going to fluctuate.Dont worry just get back focused..get your work outs in and if I were you I would implement intermittent fasting.fast for 16 hours then eat for 8 hours..if you exercise do it during your fast..like biking or walking. I would stop counting calories and follow a keto or Paleo diet..I like Paleo better. You still look great..take it a day at a time..and know there is no quick fix..Good luck!

I just got OK with the idea of logging and tracking my food daily. It was weird at first but now it just habit and only takes a few minutes plus it keeps me in check with my food choices. Good luck on your journey

I know where your at. I went on old habits not caring about any thing gained 10 lbs back. Now I'm trying to get back to right thinking but low it so hard. This program is my life saver. I had lost 80 lbs. and messed now I'm back to square one but I can not afford to stop I have a little grandson I'm taking care of and I need to stay healthy. I turned 74 on the 4th and he is 4. Just want to say don't feel bad we all slip at times tomorrow is a new beging. You are strong and you can do this.

I did the same thing. gained back 15 lbs in 6 months. It helps to keep a bird's eye view of the food "big picture." It's not tracking that works as much as losing sight of purposeful eating that causes me to go off the rails. Our food culture is so messed up that I could blink and gain 10lbs from just eating according to habit.

If you have had a weight problem most of your life, I suspect you will always have to count at least a bit. Even now, in the middle of losing, I find I need to go back to strictly measuring every few weeks or I'll suffer 'portion inflation'.

I am right there with you now. I was doing so good. Counting calories every day. Lost 8 pounds doing good. Now all the sudden I just want to eat all day every day. Graving chips and candy. I have gained 4 pounds back. It doesn't seem like I eat that much but it is what I am eating that is the problem. I am not going to give up just taking it day by day. Really need to start moving getting some kind of workout in every day but just can't make myself start. We will hang in there together and loose those pounds.

Atkins said "If you have a weight problem, you have a weight problem for life." Well, I didn't want to believe that, but unfortunately it seems to be true for most. If you don't want to mastermind your eating every single day, you might consider the 5:2 diet approach. You eat normally 5 days a week and eat only 600 calories on two days of the week (not in a row, unless that's what you like). The weight will come off and then you can switch to 6:1 to maintain. Men seem to do very well on this plan.

My daughter is on the Keto plan and has lost 26 pounds since Christmas 😊. I'm going to ask my doc about the dangers at my age of this diet plan in the long run👍🏻.
