Will cutting calories alone cause you to lose weight? I've put myself on a 1350 calorie a day diet. I know this first week I will have lost 2-3 lbs. When results start to plateau do you just cut more (I know they suggest not to go below 1200). I like what I'm doing now and don't really feel like I'm missing out or hungry. I just have to think ahead. I really don't want to cut food groups out of my diet. Any of you out there have good success simply calorie cutting?

Yes, you will lose weight cutting calories. Controlling calorie intake however can be difficult. Many people on this site are on low carb high fat diets because we feel far less hunger, have more energy and burn more efficiently this way. If you are doing well on your current plan and not feeling hungry, I would stick with it and only change it up if it stops working for you. Good luck. Happy New Year.

Some people find when they plateau during weight loss that their metabolisms have changed slightly and so change things up a bit. Sometimes this can mean going into a maintenance phase for a week or two to steady the current weight, adding back in some of the things that were giving you problems or increasing exercise or water or other changes. The optimum Way of Eating is as unique as the person eating it and living it!🤷🏻‍♀️ Most of us are here because we need to be healthier for whatever reason and it means being a bit slimmer (or maybe heavier with muscle though that’s more rare!) and we have found the journey goes a great deal easier with the encouragement of other who are trying to be healthy and active as well cheering you on. No judgements, no blames...good support and suggestions from buddies. (I still like that word best!) Good luck to you on your journey!🙋🏻

Hi, if your active keep your cal's, especially if your exercising up...your body needs energy to burn, before it. will start releasing grandfathered fat deposits. I know how to create that balance..starving yourself isn't the answer.Talk to a nutritious or a trainer. Tell them your needs and they will lay it out for you. I hope this info was helpful. Happy New Year to you!

I've been counting calories since I've started my diet. I've lost 62lbs in one year. I cut out sweets and sugar(99% of the time). I exercise as well. It works for me. You will have to see what works for you.
