Hi Angie, have you read any of the low-carb books like "A New Atkins for A New You" ? I tried low carb several times but didn't succeed or lose much weight until I read and got to understand why it works, especially for Type II diabetics. Going low carb / keto is not easy to start, but sticking with it has changed so much for me. Since July, I have lost 30 lbs, and I have never been hungry.

Low carb is working for me, too, and the longer I stay away from rices and pastas the less I crave them. I am working on this so as not to become a Type2, since I am at great risk, and I'm trying to figure out exactly how to eat so I'll enjoy everything along the way. There are great books, all kinds, about low carb, about the glycemic index, you name it--I bet your library has a lot of them!

Both my Mom and hers were T2D. I got lab results mid July this year that showed my A1c abnormal/ high, so I got serious! I started by reading up on low carb, found VirtaHealth.com/blog articles on overcoming T2D with keto. It has worked for me, especially once I got past the "Atkins flu" AKA "keto flu". The best tip I read:
Make sure you get enough salt.
Low carb causes the body to shed salt, which can cause headaches, low energy, & dizziness. A cup of bouillon once or twice a day is all it takes.
