:-) I went on a scouting expedition, yesterday; it was to check out a Dojo, karate school, that I recently learned of. As I've said, in previous posts, I'm trying to kick things up a knotch, pulling out all the stops, to be as effective as I can in my weightloss journey. Though I've been working out lately, walking and weightlifting; there's been one element still missing. I'm a Martial Artist, and to keep improving in this area, it takes more than reading books, which I have been doing; but, you have to train. The Dojo I visited, though it's of a different style than I got my Blackbelt in, is closely related; so I recognized some of the Katas they were doing. It has a family atmosphere, similar to the dojo I used to train at, and the classes are run in a similar way. I was welcomed, by one of the senior students, as the blackbelts were in a meeting, but I'll go back to observe, another class, and meet the instructors next week. After participating, in a couple of introductory classes, both there, and at other dojos I'm interested in; I'll decide, where, and continue my training. All the dojos have positive and negative aspects to them, but nothing so dramatic as to keep me from signing up. I'm actually very excited to begin training again; it's been too long; and I could, within a few years, earn another blackbelt, and begin to progress on to a 2nd degree blackbelt, and further. :-) That, of course, would be the gravy, because my ultimate goal is for it to help me to continue to shed the pounds; and therefore keep it off.
