Mellie Mel's Journal, 25 Feb 10

So I was wondering if I am setting myself up for failure. According to the FS RDI calculator I should be eating about 2700 calories for moderate weight loss...I took it upon myself to lower that to 2200. Should I be eating closer to the 2700 mark?

I have the same fear also. Mine states i should be eating 2200 but i can barely reach the 1500 mark i set for myself so i wonder if eating 1500 would affect my weight loss apposed to eating 2200. It would be great to know if it would adversely affect our diets by lowering it..

You can lower you calorie intake too low to where the body will hold on to everything. 1500 maybe too low as most doctors will ask for an 1800 calorie target. Going from 2700 to 2200 sholdn't be too bad. The calorie intake number is not as important as the net calories number. If I ate 2500 calories in a day but I burned 4500, my net calories would be -2000. Whereas if I took in 1500 calories and burned 3000 calories, my net calories would be 1500 and I wouldn't have the fuel to repair any cellualar damage (muscles). Be sure to record your exercises as well as your food on here. Housework and Desk Work count towards burning the calories as well as sleep. As always, check with your doctor and see what they recommend.
