crystalynnn's Journal, 19 Feb 12

i have no other excuse for why i am only 5.2 lbs away from my heaviest weight other than i love food.
i wrote in my last journal that i would attempt to start dieting again, and that i was okay with the number on the scale not moving because my clothes were fitting better. but now i just dont even know.

Crystal don't beat yourself up. You recognize there's a problem, and you are already taking steps. You are on this site, and you are posting about it, and you are brave enough to post honest weigh ins. I don't know if you need professional help or not. If you feel you do, then you do. There are a lot of options out there. When you are ready to get serious, then you will. I didn't post to the site in over a year and I regained the 20 pounds that I'd lost. Sometimes it's depressing for me to see my weight history. And I feel guilty for all that time that I could have been doing something. But that's all gone now. I can't change the past, not a year ago, not yesterday. When you feel the time is right to make a change, you will. It's really helpful for me to use the Food and Exercise Diary. I have lost 19 pounds since December and I still have a ton to go. It's very fulfilling to look at the diet calendar and see a string of days that I actually was on target. I have had a few mess ups but the very next day I get back on the wagon. Weight loss is only one day, one 24 hour period of making good decisions. You just have to string enough of those days together to see a result. I know you will be ready when you're ready. If you want to chat, or want to buddy me, I would love that.

Most of us on here love food too. That's why we are here. You can still love food and lose weight. But you also need to start thinking of food as fuel for your body. Losing weight is a mental thing. You have to be in the right place to do it (mentally). If you can afford it, it might be good to join Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem or something similar to take the thinking out of food. Well WW you have to do it on your own, but it teaches you about eating a balanced diet with proper proportions. Sometimes it's good to take the thinking out of dieting for some people. Get some books out of the library on diets you might like. Get some fitness magazines and read them to motivate you. Losing weight is about 80% diet, so you need to find a plan you can live with. If you already exercise, than work on finding a plan.
