Journal for 2/6/12

Weather still getting in the way of exercise. I did get a run/walk in but it started thundering as I got ready to bike to work.

On a more positive note, my (unfortunately severely obese) nephew is excited about going hiking with me this weekend. He's 14; we're also taking his 7-year old brother. We'll be doing a very short hike of 1 mile but through some rugged territory. I've made myself a promise to pick them up at least one weekend a month and do something active. I'm thinking camping next month before it gets warm, to a walk-in site.

Diet -
2 eggs and cheddar cheese for breakfast
Atkins shake for lunch
Blu-cheese cursted pork roast, green beans, cauli-rice, and acorn squash for dinner.

Exercise -
Stretching, 1.96 mile walk/run, then crunches (4 sets of 20, 2 sets of supermans, 2 sets of bicycles) and pushups (skipped most of last week, so re-tested - 42 pushups in 1 set.)

To be honest, I have slacked in watching out for my nephews. I talk to them on the phone but haven't seen them in months. The younger one really made me feel guilty this weekend when he told my daughter "So that's what he looks like."

That is great getting kids exposted out the outdoors. My son is almost 3 and I need to start getting him into more natural out door places other than the local parks.
