I normally boil corn on the cob and then spend 5 minutes trying to get rid of the silk. Today I discovered the best, cleanest and easiest way to cook corn on the cob. Toss the whole cob in the microwave, leaves and all, and nuke it for 4 minutes. Take it out carefully - hot hot hot - and cut the stalk end off about an inch to inch and a half in from the end. Then, and here's the amazing part, grab the silk end of the leaves and squeeze! It takes a bit of effort, but the corn comes out perfectly steamed and with NO silk! I kid you not. It's worth a try if you like corn on the cob and would prefer not to have to clean the silk off.
