I got out and took the dog for a walk up to the park, and a quarter of the way around; it took me an hour and twenty minutes to get back. That's the furthest I've walked him to date. I'll take a shorter walk tomorrow, and then extend it, on Thursday, to all the way around. The significance of this to me is, it's the same park I used to run around, with my doberman, thirty years ago, while getting ready for Marine Corps OCS. If I can make this a habit, then eventually, as my weight goes down, I'll be able to run/ walk my way around again. I have no misconceptions about breaking any speed records, while doing this, but just to be able to do it again would be short of a miracle. The distance around the park alone is 3 miles, but since I'm leaving from my front door, it makes the total distance about 4 miles. Thirty years ago I was driving up to the park, before beginning my run; this time I'm leaving the car behind. Oh yeah! I'm getting this weight off!
