does anyone have any tips on calculating how many calories you should be eating to loose weight. I am always worried that I'm not eating enough so probably end up eating too much so don't end up loosing anything.

I've found the best way is as follows; Work out how many calories you need to consume to maintain the weight you want to be. You do this by working out that weight in pounds 54kg = 190 lb. Multiply by 10 = 1900 calories per day. If this is too little calories for you or you struggle to keep them that low its fine. Just increase them slightly. But weight loss will be slower. Also if you can only stick to food with less than 5% fat per 100 grams it will help loads too.

Google "tdee" calculator....this is a well respected formula....type in stats and what u want to achieve...don't worry about body fat percent....u think it would make a huge difference but it doesn't....macros balance are a personally preference...all work, as long as consistency is maintained...then it's a monitoring game...weight log...body fat log...2lbs a week is considered the max u want to be losing per week....obviously this is an average and does not take in to account the extremes....

Apologies my bad 119 lb 1190 calories (didn't have my glasses on). I know some diet plans are high fat high protein and if it works for you great. The not eating anything with more than 5% fat is a plan all by itself and may be worth a punt if you haven't had much luck with other plans. There's no set way to do things however it must involve calorie reduction. You can't out exercise consumed daily calorie intake.

I actually disagree with recommended calorie intakes for a couple of reasons. Men 2500 calories a day enough calories to sustain 17 st 5 lb Women 2000 calories a day enough calories to sustain 14st 2lb. These were calculated years ago when most work was more laborious and manual as opposed to more office based now and far more processd food. Ask yourself a question, do I need or want to be around this weight?

Bmr is bmr....that is fact, has nothing to do with activity. Its all down to how it was calculated as the testing can be quite extensive to get an accurate figure...if you are that worried wear a fitness tracker see if this number is hit at a minimum or exceeded and then you can work from there. Fact is you need to start somewhere.... so we have a rough figure set which we can work off....I would always rather start above and work down to find the "tilt" point where the body starts to respond...its all very individual.
