Good morning fellow dieters! Please tell me where my willpower went over Christmas!!! Not only did eat too much, I had to go eat sweets, too! I've been doing so good, too! What's this I Fasting some of ya'll talk about? I feel like it would be something that would benefit me. Would some one mind telling me about it, please?

Hey, Debbi. Intermittent Fasting (IF) basically just works on the assumption that calories are calories, and if you want to lose weight you burn more calories than you take in. This is basically the same as what we've been working with for years, but where IF comes in is in the period of time in which you do it. Most dieters count their calories daily, but IF indicates that everyone has been ignoring the *period of time* in which to count calories. For instance, you can decrease your daily calorie intake by 200 or 300 calories (fasting days), save up those calories, then use them all in one day, or maybe two days (indulgence, or fat days). The period of time in which you do it is all up to you, and can even be variable. You might choose to save calories for one day a month. Or some people do best fasting all day, except for an 8-hour period during which they eat all their calories. I've been doing that last one. Of course, there is more to it... take a look at KingKeld's journals for some links to other resources (such as IIFYM . com ; "if it fits your macros").
