I'm back from the most wonderful trip! We had so much fun, spent quality time alone and with friends, saw breathtaking sights, ate the most delicious meals and drank the most delicious wines. It truly was a trip of a lifetime! I loved every minute... Even the biking... Which was hard but doable. We shopped, saw the Duomo and the Last Supper in Milan. The biking began in Turin through the orchards & forests in the Roero hills. We then did a loop ride to the city of Bra where we learned about the Slow Food movement and visited a local winery. From there we cycled through the Barolo Langhe and explored the charming town of Alba. We truffle hunted & pedaled past the Barbaresco vineyards enroute to our final destination in Monferrato. We spent one last night in Milan and as hard as it was to leave beautiful Italy, there truly is no place like home.
I've been missing all of you, and hope you're each doing well. While I tried my best to eat mindfully, the food was incredibly delicious & I certainly indulged. And as usual, my travel home was especially trying to my healthy eating journey. Even though i know i was tired from the long travel day & jet lag, I ate my hunger. The transition home from a trip continues to be a real struggle for me, which I'm still trying to come up with a better way to handle. I'm thinking I've had this all or nothing approach, which keeps ending poorly, and that for next time I should approach it differently with baby steps in the right direction. Something to think about! But for now, I'm off to catch up on journals. Xoxox
