pumakitten's Journal, 02 Aug 13

OK!! The official weigh in is 276. Dropped 1 pound since last week. Thats ok!!! I recalculated my BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate)
BMR is 1900 and RMR is 1848.
My BMI (Body mass index) is at 45.5.

It is important to keep track of these numbers. You can go to www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.php, and get your RMR & BMR. Then just click on calculators and you will get back to where you get your BMI calculator.

The reason these numbers are important, is that they will tell you how many calories your body needs to run while you are resting, and for your present weight. The BMI tells you how much mass your body has. This is including muscle and fat. They are important numbers because as you lose weight, THESE NUMBERS ALSO GO DOWN!!

You may start at, lets say 2300 calories. As you lose, all is going smoothly. All of a sudden, you aren't losing any more, now you have started gaining weight !! But how??? I'm sticking to my diet!! How is this happening!!!

What has happened, is your Basal metabolic rate, and your Resting metabolic rate have changed, and dropped like your weight. Now your calorie requirements are lower!!! You have to start eating a 2000 calorie diet now, to lose the weight or exercise more..

Not fair is it!!! No, its not fair, but it is how the body works, its something you need to understand and accept that this will happen, and you just have to adjust accordingly!!

I'm still good with a 1800 calorie intake. FS said I need 2300. I have trouble getting 1200 right now, so I dropped mine to 1800, and I'm good. Everyone is different, and have different needs, or medical issues. The point is, keep an eye on these numbers, write them down, or log them here in your journal. Check them every month. Accept the fact that these numbers will change, and to continue on your diet journey, you need to adjust to them.

It's time for me to go off to the gym and that lovely pool and HOT TUB!!! I have an MRI scheduled for tomorrow. I hope it is ok, but if it shows that nerve being pinched, I hope it just calls for therapy and not surgery!!

Have a great Friday everyone!!! Keep the Diet Battle Raging!!! I'll be right here to back you up!!!

1 pound lost is a pound you won't have to lose later. Thanks for the info on the BMR & RMR, this was something I didn't know. I am going to website you listed and check it out. Have a great weekend.
