I haven't had period in about 3 months. I'm assuming it's due to the low calorie intake and my body adapting to weight loss. I'm 18 years old, 5'1 and 114 pounds. I want to slowly increase calories and maintain weight but I'm afraid of weight gain since my metabolism has slowed. Everything with COVID is hard too, doctor appointments and gym closures. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'd see your Doctor about not getting your period, it could be something else entirely. I was underweight when I was young but my cycle was never impacted.

I'm at a healthy weight so maybe it's something else. My mom said it may be due to nutritional changes. Most clinics are closed, we tried calling in but the line didn't go through either. I was reading about amenorrhea and think that's what it is, hopefully I naturally get it back. Thank you though!

Yeah me too! I’ve been eating more, I’ve heard fruits like papaya and pineapple help inducing the cycle. I’m gonna try that as well

Yeah, I’ve increased my calories and been eating more intuitively until my health is better. My weight is normal for my height though, my bmi is normal as well. Well, changing my focus from the scale to my health instead for now. Thanks

Hey girly how many calories are you eating in a day ? I’m 18 as well and the only time eating has ever affected my period was when I was eating like 600 calories + working out which is super unhealthy, but literally don’t be scared of weight you should be proud of how much you’ve lost 💗

I’d been eating 600 in the previous months but on average I eat 1200-1500 now. I’ve tried increasing a lot as well, I’ve had some cheat days up to 3000, though I’m trying to stabilize my calories to about 1500 since I am quite short too

Wondering if a medical check up might be helpful hun. I think sometimes we all forget that our health as a whole person isn't just diet. Hope you get it figured out!

if you haven't had your period and u r not pregnant yep calories too low... you shouldn't be scared of a little weight besides you are young maybe even still growing? you can increase your intake gradually while waiting to see a doctor. for the gym. do some sport at home. no need for a gym. you can practice many things. you have classes online or on YouTube. if you lack motivation I suggest you make an appointment with a friend and practice together (everyone in his house and talk about it.... or if you are not alone a parent or a sibling. good luck

The increased calories have been helping me mentally and physically, I think my body’s adjusting to it. Have been doing some home workouts as well as walks, yoga, and meditation. Thank you all for the support and advice ❤️

It might be what they call wartime amenorrhea. Due to High stress level.

when did you stop losing weight and start maintenance?

Our bodies are amazing and resilient (same with our minds). Your metabolism will adjust as you eat more. another option to think about is a naturopath

It’s been about one month since I’ve gone into maintenance. Yeah, I’ll check that out, thanks.

If you’re fat intake is too low it effects hormones. It’s a balance. Check your protein and fat percentages under macros.
