I don't write down every little calorie anymore, or go out of my way to measure portions. I've done it enough (and I cook a lot, that helps) that I can eyeball portions and keep a running tally in my head. It's been mentioned to me (elsewhere) that perhaps I'm not as good as this as I think I am and that I'm eating more or less (depending on why they're getting on me about it) than I think, so I decided to track everything for the last couple days, eyeballing what I thought a portion was and then measuring/weighing it and writing everything down I ate and tallying it at the end of the day.
I feel validated in that everything I eyeballed couldn't have been a more perfect portion if I'd measured it first, and I was right on target with my calorie counts. So, I don't want anymore guff from anybody about the way I fix and count food. I do know what I'm doing. Don't gripe to me just because you can't be that lenient and you need to track and measure every little thing to get any results.
