5 lbs in 16 days. If I can lose 5 oz a day, then I'll be at my goal weight around Jan 10, 2020. That can be my new campaign slogan: 55 by 1-10-2020.
I was listening to public radio yesterday and caught part of an interview with a woman who said there had been recent research that upended a lot of commonly held medical beliefs. One finding was that taking fish oil pills was not proven to have any heart benefits. Same for beta carotene for cancer prevention and gingko biloba for brain function. Also, a torn meniscus is best treated with physical therapy, not surgery. My ortho doc was already on top of that one.
I wonder what else they'll find. I also read a post by a doctor on reddit who said that NOT exercising was the worst thing for one's health. Even worse than eating poorly and smoking. That got my attention.
I'm going for my orientation at the therapy pool on Friday. I haven't had clothes for swimming in over 10 years. I hope I can find board shorts and a lyrcra t-shirt off the rack somewhere. I dread having anyone see my blubber, especially my fat ass and stumpy legs. I know I shouldn't care, but even at age 62, I still do.
