For the next couple days I’m not even sure if I should post my calories and such. We actually have ended up broke and right now we are struggling a bit. So I can’t really afford to buy the protein and stuff needed to diet. I’ll still do my best, I swear I will. But I don’t have the ability to diet to the fullest extent of my ability. I’m ashamed to be going through a rough time financially, but I dug this grave and now I must dig my way out.

You can do what you can. Just doing your best, cutting down on amounts, drinking water, working on your meditation and exercise would be just fine. You do not need expensive proteins to lose weight.

I can’t really afford any proteins. Besides eggs haha.

Exactly, eggs 🥚 are one my favorite protein sources and this time of year are on sale just before Easter 🐣!

Being broke SUCKS. But, it’s not the end of the world. Don’t stop tracking because even if it’s not in line with your goals, tracking will keep it reigned in better than a free fall. Eggs are super cheap this time of year and you can stock up and freeze them (I make egg white ice cube trays). Check the markdown produce and meat. You can make it work! Good luck!

A calorie deficit it what you need more than anything else. At your stage muscle loss will be minimal if at all. Just worry about the calorie intake.

@diablo, that was the plan. I may not reach my nutrient goals, but I can control my calories. The only real thing that will affect me will be dinners. I can still do breakfast and I can still do lunch, since my son doesn’t seem to like his chicken nuggets, I’ll eat them. I was just stressed when I posted this. I can eat green beans and hot dogs if I have to. I’ll do whatever I can to keep my carbs down and my protein high. Protein has been making me feel really good and I don’t want to lose that feeling. I can just do 2 protein shakes instead of one. And double up on my almond serving size. So instead of 28, I’ll eat 56. I WILL make this work. I’m determined to fix my life. And being broke won’t change it. Plus, we have canned carrots. My kids don’t like them. I can take carrots and nuggets if the nuggets aren’t enough.

I don't know where you live, but eggs are often very cheap and the grocery store Albertson's where I live has their 93% lean ground beef on sale for $2.99 pound and boneless, skinless chicken breast at the meat counter for $1.99 pound. I'm broke too so am always looking for a bargain. Also, frozen and even canned veggies and inexpensive.

Never be too proud to hit up the food banks and food pantries offered by community groups. Often they will have tuna and other canned meat that will help you along the way plus provide other foods for your family. We all need help and support along the way. When you are on your feet you can pay it forward. Don't forget Costco and Sam's Club Sample areas. Often times they are cheese samples or sausage samples, etc. Might not make a meal, but will help to keep up your nutrition. Don't be afraid to hit them up more than once, they are used to it ... lots of people hit up the samples 3, 4, 5 times ... just circle around and leave some time between the 3rd and 4th hit.

You'll get through, lots of cheaper cuts of meat etc. Buy in bulk of possible! I used to buy the 72 pack of eggs from Walmart and sams. Every grocery store has marked down meat. But a bunch and freeze it..

Walmart has $2 a pound chicken breast. For awhile my family ate chicken and ground turkey ($1.76 per pound at the time) for dinner Every Single Night. It was horrible lol but got the job done.

It’s not like this every week. We are planning on stocking up in meat when it goes on sale. At the moment, I can afford eggs and milk. Milk is for my 1 year old. Then I need to buy the kids food. Yes, that is it. I’m that broke.

Try your local Salvation Army. My local one has their own food bank.

Call 311 and ask if there are any food pantries in your area. Tell them what else you are in need of, they may be able to refer you to some place that can help. 311 is the universal information and referral line.

Try water fasting a few days a week. easy way to lose weight and it's honestly not that hard. Look up Snake Diet. I've done 6 day fasts - no problem. Good luck.

WRONG! Call 211, not 311.. So sorry, had a senior moment there.

Eggs, peanuts, and beans (though watch the carbs on the beans). I've been there more times than I would have liked.

I know at the Dollar Store, or Dollar Tree they have peanut butter , they are good for protein if you need it.. Yes , I help out for our local food pantry and we are always making sure we have enough available for people who need it.. We are happy to help those who need it to get through the rough patch especially for the kids who need the proper daily nutrition..

I have been there, and I second the idea on eggs, peanuts, peanut butter, and beans. Think also of canned tuna. And yes, the food bank is available for anyone in emergency situation. For fruits & vegs, canned goods at dollar can help out with that. Good luck!

Walk walk walk, exercise is free. It will help with the stress and give you some time to problem solve

Michelleevans, that is GREAT ADVICE! although some people can't walk to much for different reasons. Another way to get great stress relief and exercise at the same time is to get into the pool if you have one or access to one.
