Today was my first family get together since I started my diet. We had hotdogs and brats macaroni salad, deviled eggs, baked beans, fruit and potato chips. I think I did OK with the food. I didn't eat any sugar--YEAH!! I didn't eat any macaroni salad, brats, beans or chips. The only thing I found where I probably could have cut back is only have one hotdog on a bun instead of two. Overall, I feel the day was a successful dieting day for me. I had a little too many carbs today, but I'll do better tomorrow. Still learning what works for me. I do like this new way of dieting for me. All other diets (for me at least) have been so restrictive with a bunch of rules and I always seem to forget the rules or get tired of following all the rules. The way I'm doing things now is adjusting things slowly and becoming successful on one thing at a time and then advancing things. It kind of prevents me from feeling a failure which is what I need right now. I think weight loss has been the one thing in my life that has not come easy and I haven't succeeded at. My job, school, etc. have always been easy for me in comparison to this. I'm feeling pretty good about things right now. Since I'm seriously considering having weight loss surgery, I am reading a book called Weight loss surgery for dummies. I learned something that I never knew before. Simple carbs and sugar stimulate your appetite and protein suppresses your appetite. This may be the secret I need to make my diet successful long term. I'm learning so much and I'm soaking everything in like a sponge. I had been on many diets in my life and thought I had heard everything, but I guess I was wrong. I'm hoping this new information will not only help me, but others who have the same problems I have.
