mars2kids's Journal, 23 May 18

Thanks to those who wrote me a message of support yesterday! The verdict is low iron, yet again. I'm glad I recognized the symptoms and got in to get it checked. We'll see Friday what the hand doctor says.

Last night I ended up relaxing after getting home. I had to run some errands after work and made dinner when I got home since my hubby had a meeting. I was feeling validated, like I'm not lazy, I am truly tired, so if I need to rest it's okay. I think sometimes my hubby does think I'm just lazy, and I know I can be lazy, but he doesn't understand having zero energy. I started the iron supplements last night, so hopefully within a couple of weeks I'll be feeling more energized again. Tonight I am planning to do my workout and just push through the tired until I'm feeling "normal". I'm glad that I haven't gotten too bad in my eating, which I tend to do when I'm feeling tired, eat to stay awake.

A lesson I've learned is to advocate for yourself, if you know you're not feeling right, find the answers. We go on vacation in a month, so I'll be glad to have more energy for our trip. I'd hate to have put off going in and then have just slept through the whole thing, or been the party pooper who didn't want to do anything.

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday!!

Make sure to drink a lot of water with the supplements, they can bind you up a bit. Hope you feel better soon.

I have struggled with anemia. It is like having mono. Hope you can get it treated!

You are right--people who have not experience chronic low energy and tiredness do not understand how all-encompassing, overwhelming, and frustrating it can be. So glad you've found an answer. If this doesn't do the whole trick, I'd suggest you have your doctor check your thyroid, too. An under-active thyroid can cause the same types of symptoms. Been there, done that.

Obviously the WHY of your repeated anemia has been addressed

If constipation is an issue, ask if you can substitute Ferris fumerite for the Ferris sulfate.

Thanks all for the support and suggestions! Fizzlescraps- I had my thyroid checked and I'm normal there luckily. Kenna- I have a bad stomach and they're thinking it's malabsorption, but the doc is having me take supplements for three months, then off for three months, if I get low again or keep feeling bad they're going to do more checking.

My husband is battling low iron/ anemia and it really sucks to watch him deal with fatigue and a general sense of unwellness. He has had a few iron infusions and felt great for awhile. Hope all is well soon.

Sending you hugs. 😊 Please try not to fall into the belief that you are lazy at times. If you are zapped of your energy, there's a reason, as you've found out. I say this, because as mothers and wives, we give so much out and leave ourselves for last. In the long run, it negatively affects our health and can result in a constant state of fatigue. I'm in my late 50s now and while I didn't work outside the home, like you do, I was always busy, too busy. I try not to have many regrets, but I do certainly have one, that is that I wish I would have been kinder to myself and taken care of myself when I was a young mother. I don't mean to preach, it's just that it breaks my heart when I hear or see young mothers working so hard and feeling like they should be doing more. My mother used to tell me, "you need to take care of yourself the way you take care of your family. If you get sick, how can you be there for your family?". Being kind to yourself is the best gift you can give yourself and your family. ❤

Glad you found an answer for feeling tired! I’m tired a lot and my blood work and tests always comes back normal. Makes me crazy to not have an answer. I hope you feel great in no time!
