Unusual Frequency's Journal, 14 May 18

I almost collapsed in the dollar store yesterday, just from going up and down 4 aisles, leaning on a cart. I wasn't in pain, it's just that my stamina is non-existent. I was so glad to do away with my walker after my surgery, but I might just need to start bringing it with me again, not really to lean on, but just to have a seat wherever and whenever I need one.

This is not my body. I'm trapped inside this torture device, and I'm not sure how to get out. They told me the surgery would be the magical moment. It took the pain away, but I still feel sick and trapped. Then they said getting off the drugs would do it. I'm now off all the meds and through the withdrawal, but I still feel sick and trapped. Now it's dropping the weight, and I'm not sure I believe what the doctors tell me any more.

Some days it's hard to have hope.

Everything worth doing takes time. Just be patient, it will come. You are taking major steps in the right direction. Just keep at it, you will see the results. I am sorry about the exhaustion, I know how that it. The stamina will come back, just give your body time to readjust. Sending you thoughts and prayers.

Do you mind me asking if you had back surgery? The reason I ask is I have had 2 of them and I remember going through the withdrawal from pain meds, and the lack of stamina also. I was very very low on potassium too. Be patient with yourself. You had a surgery and you are healing. Let the body recover before you worry about weight loss. Also praying for your recovery.

Abdominal surgery, so all my core muscles were cut in half. The dilaudid and fentanyl were easy to get off of, it was the prednisone that gave me the hardest time with the withdrawal. I've got vitamin supplements, and blood work every two weeks to make sure my body's adjusting to life without the organs we removed, so I'm not too worried about nutrient deficiency, we'll catch it before it becomes a problem. It's just been so long since I've felt healthy, since my entire life has been on hold because of this illness, It's hard to believe it will ever end.

I was cut from hip to hip in my surgery years ago. Surgeon said they would not to do another surgery after the last one unless it was a medical emergency. Stomach will never be the same but it could be worse. You are alive and some things will take time to heal. Please be strong mentally and concentrate on doing something that will keep you occupied. Maybe a hobby, swimming, or anything you might think you will love to do. God has plans for you. Hope you feel better soon. Take care.
